Abstract

Published guidelines and practice recommendations for medical practitioners supporting LGBTQIA+ people remain inconsistent, with implications for consistent health and social care. Some organisations (eg, World Professional Association for Transgender Health) have recommended gender-affirming care.1,2 Conversely, health authorities (eg, the UK's National Health Service and the US Department of Health and Human Services) question the health benefits of gender-affirming care.3,4
