Conclusion and Epilogue
Abstract
The Conclusion and Epilogue discusses the recent transformation of museums back into mosques, and how that presents challenges to conducting further field work on this area in Turkey. It also embeds the discussion of conducting research into moments of diaspora and exile into our contemprary moment, and how art and architecture can function in discplaced communities. It also discusses the potential effects of how our perspective of the art and architecture of the early Palaiologan period may shift given the way in which its rebuilding and renovation is informed by the architecture and material culture produced under the Laskarids, and the larger effects of this shift on the period of late Byzantine studies.
