Chemically Mediated Formation of Unique Flavin-Silver Coordination Polymers Leading to Divergent Nanoparticle Architecture
Abstract
This paper describes the crystallographic studies of two silver-flavin coordination polymers grown under different chemical environments. Interestingly, a rare bidentate coordination of the flavin moiety, leading to a 1D zigzag polymeric motif, was observed under acidic conditions. Conversely, the basic conditions lead to an interesting arrangement of silver ions coordinated to flavin units, resulting in a unique example of a 3D hierarchical coordination polymer design involving the flavin entity. Furthermore, the crystallographically dissimilar silver-flavin entities were utilized to generate distinctively different nanoparticle formations, with respect to both structural dimensions and morphology.
