Abstract

The environment does not merely surround us; it shapes us. Decades of environmental health research have revealed how chemical, biological, and other environmental exposures become molecularly embedded across the life course, influencing disease risk from conception onward. As ES&T marks its 60th anniversary, the exposome framework has emerged as a unifying lens for understanding these complex environment–health relationships and, critically, for translating knowledge into prevention.
