Engineering Robust Ni–CaO Interaction Using Potassium for Low-Carbon Deposition Integrated CO 2 Capture and Dry Reforming of the Methane Process
Abstract
Integrated CO 2 capture and utilization via dry reforming of methane (ICCU-DRM) using NiCa-based dual-functional materials (DFMs) offers a promising pathway for spontaneously converting two greenhouse gases into valuable syngas (H 2 + CO). However, NiCa-based DFMs often suffer from severe carbon deposition due to methane decomposition at high temperatures. Here, we show that the Ni–Ca interface can be regulated by a small amount of K 2 CO 3 additive through enhancing Ni–CaO interaction, yielding a superior coke resistance in ICCU-DRM. The robust structure, similar to Ni@CaO, effectively impedes the growth of graphite carbon on the surface of Ni particles. Specifically, 0.01K–NiCaO demonstrated excellent cyclic stability in 50 ICCU-DRM cycles at 675 °C, with ∼97% CO 2 conversion, 1.6 H 2 /CO ratio, and
