Abstract

Photoassisted lithium–sulfur batteries (PA-LSBs) leverage photogenerated carriers to accelerate the sulfur redox kinetics, yet their performance is often limited by the rapid recombination of electron–hole pairs. Herein, we propose a Lorentz force-assisted carrier separation strategy to enhance the photocatalytic activity and overcome this limitation. A magneto-optically responsive nitrogen-doped Co 9 S 8 –TiO 2 (N-Co 9 S 8 @N-TiO 2 ) heterostructure is designed and fabricated as the sulfur host. Under an external magnetic field, the material exhibits stable ferromagnetism, enabling the Lorentz force to modulate carrier trajectories and effectively suppress charge recombination. The synergistic promotion mechanism of the magneto-optical field on electrochemical reaction kinetics is systemically elucidated by the distribution of relaxation time analysis. Benefiting from this design, the assembled PA-LSB achieves an ultrahigh discharge capacity of 1620 mAh g –1 at 0.2 C and exhibits stable cycling over 370 cycles at 2 C. The synergistic magneto-optical field-assisted strategy provides a promising pathway for advanced energy storage systems.
