Steric Hindrance Enhanced the Bowl-Shaped Curvature of Bridged Triphenylamine
Abstract
Introducing steric hindrance into planar bridged triphenylamine-containing double pentagons and a heptagon can induce the molecule to form deep bowl-shaped compounds. These highly positively curved compounds demonstrate distinct luminescent properties depending on the pendent aromatic rings with good fluorescence intensity in solution and powder states. The molecular bowl can assemble with fullerene C 60 to form a host–guest complex as evidenced by crystallographic analysis.
