In-Situ Engineered V 2 CT x MXene/NiO Heterostructure for High-Performance Supercapacitors
Abstract
Among emerging materials, MXene has gained particular interest due to its remarkable two-dimensional structure, high electrical conductivity, chemical stability, and high theoretical specific capacitance. However, its tendency to self-stack limits its performance in energy storage applications. In this study, we explore the potential of V 2 CT x MXene as a high-performance electrode material by functionalizing it with NiO through an innovative in situ growth strategy. V 2 CT x MXene was synthesized using acid etching, and a NiO/V 2 CT x composite was successfully prepared via hydrothermal synthesis and annealing. Electrochemical measurements of the NiO/V 2 CT x //AC asymmetric supercapacitor yielded a high energy density of 25.78 Wh kg –1 at a power density of 160 W kg –1 . After 10,000 cycling, the material retains a stable efficiency of 99.24%, and specific capacity still remains at 70% of the original demonstrating excellent long-term durability. NiO-functionalized V 2 CT x MXene exhibits enhanced electrochemical performance and cyclic stability, demonstrating great potential for advanced energy storage applications.
