Synergistic Chiral Diffusion and Dual-Mode Luminescence in Flexible Polymer-Stabilized Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Films for Multistate Anti-Counterfeiting and Dynamic Information Encryption
Abstract
A multifunctional flexible anticounterfeiting film is developed based on polymer-stabilized cholesteric liquid crystals (PSCLC). A synergistic design that couples chiral-molecule diffusion with dual-mode luminescent centers allows high-definition structural-color patterning to be integrated with bright fluorescence emission and persistent afterglow display. Poly(vinylidene fluoride) is employed as a polymer carrier for chiral dopants, and precise color tuning is achieved by controlling electrospraying time. Incorporation of the multifunctional thiol trimethylolpropane tris(3-mercaptopropionate) (TMPMP) further tailors polymer-network morphology, leading to reduced driving voltage and improved electro-optical responsiveness. Dynamically tunable optical outputs are realized under visible light, ultraviolet irradiation, and electric fields, while up to five distinct information can be selectively displayed for information encryption. Collectively, the proposed approach offers a facile and scalable route to advanced anticounterfeiting materials with high security, intelligent decodability, and strong potential in dynamic information encryption and optical sensing.
