Cu(I)diimine-Decorated Anthracene-Containing Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution
Abstract
Polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-functionalized covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as promising platforms for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, yet the synergistic incorporation of electron-rich PAHs and site-isolated metal centers remains underexplored. Herein, we report an anthracene-decorated bipyridine COF (TpBpyAn) and its Cu(I)-coordinated derivative (TpBpyAn-Cu). Under visible-light irradiation with BIH as a sacrificial electron donor and acetic acid as a proton source, TpBpyAn-Cu achieves H 2 production of 42.6 mmol g –1 in 8 h─approximately 20 times higher than TpBpy. Mechanism investigations demonstrate that combining PAH decoration with Cu(I) coordination enhances photogenerated charge separation, offering a generalizable design strategy for high-performance, COF-based photocatalysts.
