Abstract

Abstract Design of CO2 methanation catalysts is carried out by using literature data and machine learning. Key descriptors governing catalytic performance are identified via feature engineering, enabling accurate prediction of active bimetallic catalyst compositions. The predicted catalyst (NiSm/Al2O3) is synthesized and evaluated in a gas-flow heterogeneous reactor, where it achieves high CO2 conversion. Structural and surface properties are also investigated to characterize it. The performed approach demonstrates that descriptor design provides a powerful strategy for the discovery and rational development of heterogeneous catalysts.
