Carbon Dioxide Adsorption Using Porous 3D Self-Assembled Graphene
Abstract
High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide The rising carbon emission level requires an urgent need to develop effective and economical capture technologies. In this study, highly porous 3D self-assembled graphene (SAG) has been synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal synthesis route for gas adsorption studies, especially carbon dioxide (CO 2 ). Techniques such as HRTEM, FESEM, PXRD, BET, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, and HRXRD have been employed for the characterization of SAG. Adsorption isotherms of CO 2, hydrogen (H 2 ), and methane (CH 4 ) have been measured from 0.1 to 30 bar of pressure range. The 3D SAG has shown a remarkable CO 2 uptake of ∼2.18 mmol/g. The material has also demonstrated extraordinarily high ideal gas selectivity of 59.38 at 0.1 bar for CO 2 /H 2 and 10.51 for CO 2 /CH 4 at 0.1 bar. The findings suggest that 3D SAG has the potential to function as an adsorbent for various applications related to CO 2 capture and separation.
