2025: A Banner Year
Abstract
RecommendationsW ith the start of a new year, we take time to look back at the year that was as well as look ahead to 2026, which promises to be a great one.As 2025 unfolded, the surge in submissions that started in 2024 continued unabated, with every month registering a new record.Over the past five years, submissions to J. Am.Chem.Soc. have essentially doubled.Numerous factors have contributed to the robust growth globally, especially in the most recent two years.Expansion of coverage to new areas of chemistry has brought new authors to the journal.Beyond chemistry, J. Am.Chem.Soc. is increasingly welcoming authors from biology, chemical engineering, and physics departments in universities, medical schools, colleges, academies, national laboratories, industry, and institutes.I am convinced that the growth in the associate editor pool has enabled diversification in J. Am.Chem.Soc.global reach and, importantly, greater reach into emerging cutting-edge areas in fundamental and applied science that are molecular and interdisciplinary. Our associate editor team is a "who's who" of renowned scientists who collectively constitute a virtual department of chemistry like no other. These are practicing teachers, mentors, and researchers who share experiences with the global community of practicing chemists. Thanks to the hard work of our colleagues in ACS Publications, J. Am.Chem.Soc. is in a position to appoint additional associate editors in the coming months to deliver on its mission to properly capture the exciting developments in chemistry and related scientific disciplines.
