Discovery and Biosynthesis of Sesquiterpene Polyketide Ester from an Atypical Terpene and Highly Reducing Polyketide Pathway
Abstract
-β-longipinene sesquiterpene skeleton, and a unique isoheptylic acid acylated side chain. The synthesis and installation processes of the isoheptylic acid unit are carried out through the highly reducing polyketide synthase (hrPKS) program initiated by l-leucine metabolism and depend on the dual functions of coenzyme A ligase to activate different branched-chain keto acids. Our work reveals a new assembly line for sqTPKEs in fungi.
