Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate the age-related trends and associations of biometric parameters in the Korean population. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the patients who underwent IOLMaster 700 scanning between November 2022 and December 2024. We investigated the correlations between age and ocular biometric parameters—axial length (AL), central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), corneal power (K), white-to-white distance (WTW), and vitreous chamber depth (VCD). RESULTS 2223 eyes (mean age: 71.46 ± 11.12 years) were included. AL, ACD, and VCD showed moderate negative correlations with age ( p < 0.001), whereas LT showed a strong positive correlation with age ( p < 0.001). AL, CCT, ACD, WTW, and VCD showed decreasing trends with age, whereas LT increased with advancing age ( p < 0.001). Age was associated with LT ( p < 0.001), VCD ( p < 0.001), CCT ( p < 0.001), K ( p < 0.001), WTW ( p < 0.001), and ACD ( p = 0.038), but not with AL ( p = 0.185). CONCLUSION LT, VCD, CCT, K, WTW, and ACD are significantly associated with age in the Korean population, whereas AL is not an age-related factor. These findings enhance our understanding of ocular aging and associated biometric patterns.
