Novel technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) have the potential to optimize clinical operations and reduce healthcare costs. The adoption of AI in healthcare, however, has lagged behind other industries 2 , 3 . This occurs despite the fact that the National Bureau of Economic Research has estimated that wider adoption of AI in the U.S. healthcare system could lead to savings between $200 billion and $360 billion annually 4 .
