Abstract

Quantitative evaluation of green chemistry is a highly significant discipline that necessitates the use of a robust tool or technology to design processes and assess their alignment with the 12 principles of green chemistry. In this chapter, we will discuss the DOZN™ tool, which is based on the 12 principles of green chemistry, and developed by Merck, a global science and technology company. By leveraging the 12 principles, the DOZN™ tool facilitates the evaluation of three key objectives: minimize resource utilization, improved energy efficiency, and reduction of human and environmental hazards. We will delve into the fundamental concepts behind the 12 principles and provide examples of data obtained from assessing various chemical procedures utilizing the DOZN™ tool.
