Abstract

oxidative ring contraction of a helical azaheptalene. X-ray, spectroscopic, and theoretical studies revealed highly distorted, configurationally stable helicity with long-wavelength absorption and chiroptical properties. These findings provide a new π-conjugated helical framework for functional chiral materials.
