Na 2 SnSO 4 F 2 : an ultraviolet-transparent sulfate crystal with large birefringence driven by stereochemically active tin( ii )
Abstract
By introducing Sn 2+ into a sulfate system, millimeter-scale Na 2 SnSO 4 F 2 crystals were hydrothermally synthesized. It shows a UV cutoff edge at 258 nm and birefringence of 0.086@1064 nm, indicating that it is a potential UV birefringent material.
