Abstract

A novel sulfate compound, Nb 2 O 2 (TeO 3 ) 2 (SO 4 ), was synthesized by introducing two cations (Nb 5+ and Te 4+ ) with the second-order Jahn–Teller effect into the sulfate framework, and it exhibited a moderate SHG response and remarkable birefringence.
