Abstract

A novel pathway to Br 3 − /Br + redox is initially reported with a non-corrosive molecular mediator. It lowers the kinetic barrier inherent to conventional interhalogen formation, enabling fast and stable Br 3 − /Br + redox and superior battery performance.
