Fluorination fine-tunes the electronic structure and hydrophobic microenvironment of metal-free nitrogen-doped carbon for efficient electrocatalytic CO 2 reduction
Abstract
Fluorine selectively modulates the p-orbital of pyridinic N, lowering the *COOH formation barrier, while its hydrophobicity engineers a CO 2 -rich, H 2 O/H + -lean microenvironment. This dual action delivers efficient CO 2 -to-CO conversion.
