Abstract

S N Ar derivatization of cycloparaphenylenes yields the first thianthrene-containing CPPs. These strained macrocycles show tunable C 60 binding, altered crystal packing, and reversible low-potential oxidations, enabling versatile π-rich nanomaterials.
