Abstract

AlC phases. It begins with an overview of the synthesis techniques for these materials, including bulk, thin film, and powder forms. Subsequently, it delves into their polymorphism, phase stability, the electrical, thermal, and elastic properties, as well as hardness, machinability, deformation, fracture, fatigue, creep, oxidation, corrosion, and friction and wear. Additionally, the review covers the advancements in composite materials, surface technologies, joining techniques, and carbide-derived carbon (CDC) based on these phases. Finally, the article suggests future research directions that aimed at guiding and inspiring further studies in the field of material sciences.
