Fluorination of alkoxide ligands: neither too much, nor too little for optimal ligand field strength
Abstract
A fluorination sweet spot emerges in Mo( v ) alkoxides: partial CF 3 substitution strengthens the ligand field. EPR, energy decomposition, and 17 O NMR calculations reveal that C–CF 3 σ* acceptor orbitals tune Mo–O bonding and catalyst conformations.
