Abstract

Near-perfect photo-switching (99.89% E → Z ) in ACEt-5 enables precise light control of LC phases. Ultra‑slow thermal back-relaxation (160 min) enables optical memory in E7. Terminal groups tune mesophases: cyano → N*; esters → N*/SmA*/SmC* parity-dependent.
