Analysis RCS of duplicate E shape patch antenna for 5G
Abstract
Radar Cross Section (RCS) is an important parameter ensuring data validity pertaining to the detection and identification of the target. Each target possesses a unique electromagnetic signature, which can be used in classification and identification of the structure under study. Signal scattering is reduced at a fixed polarization by using a monostatic radar system, in which both the transmitting and receiving antennas are co-located. Among other types of antennas, the microstrip patch antenna is widely used in microwaves as well as space communication system. This paper presents a double E-shape patch antenna operating at the fifth-generation (5G) frequencies as a target in a study simulated to measure monostatic RCS using CST Studio Suite 2020. The analysis of the antenna model is analysed under various orientation of the targets (0°, 45°, 60°, 90°). In addition, monostatic RCS is investigated at 34 GHz for incidence angles ranging from 0° to 180°. The results indicate that the minimum RCS value of the rectangular patch antenna is -62.5 m2, approximately, which is attained when the incident angle 90°.
