Abstract

Organ donation and transplantation play a vital role in addressing critical cases of organ failure. However, conventional systems face persistent challenges such as lack of transparency, compromised integrity, financial limitations, and inefficiencies in donor-recipient matching. With recent technological advancements, it is now possible to build systems that inspire greater trust and reliability. This paper introduces a blockchain-powered organ donation and transplantation system designed to overcome these limitations by ensuring a secure, transparent, and dependable framework. The proposed approach strengthens trust among hospitals, donors, and recipients while streamlining the allocation of organs. Leveraging blockchain technology, the system offers robust donor authentication, tamper-proof transaction records, and automated organ matching through smart contracts. Additionally, it integrates the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) for decentralized and distributed storage of medical data. A crowdfunding module is also embedded to provide financial support to patients in need. By combining cryptographic security and proof-of-work, the proposed system enhances data integrity and resolves key shortcomings of traditional organ donation and transplantation mechanisms.
