Abstract

Quantum computing has a lot of potential but decoherence and noise continues to be a challenge to its large-scale use. In the majority of cases, quantum error correction becomes considered the main means of curbing these limitations. This paper focuses on Shor's nine-qubit error correction procedure, analyzing its compatibility with quantum key distribution protocols based on entangled Bell states. A full 38-qubit architecture was used under Qiskit 2.0 as the experimental design. In this scheme, the logical information is coded on two qubits and the fact that we can measure the full syndrome allows systematic correction of the error. Five controlled situations were tested where systematic bit-flip, phase-flip and combined Y-type errors were introduced at different qubit positions. The analysis of data demonstrated the high efficiency of work in all the configuration types of testing. The fidelities of Bell states were kept in perfect unity (1.0000) at all times, and quantum bit error rates were held at zero percent. Syndrome-based detection proved that all the inserted errors were not only detected properly but also their location was found. The time of execution was around 8.5 milliseconds on average per correction cycle, which demonstrates a possible application of the protocol in real-time situations. As a whole, all these findings confirm quantum error correction as a viable basis of secure quantum communication within the framework established by Shor. The results hence provide important arguments towards the development of quantum communication networks on a large scale.
