The review of interface engineering via novel coating designs for stable silicon anodes in lithium-ion batteries
Abstract
With the rapid development of global transportation electrification, the demand for new batteries has also increased. Lithium-ion batteries, because of their high theoretical capacity, have also become an important research focus in the field of inter face engineering. However, traditional silicon cathode lithium-ion batteries will have capacity decay under actual operating conditions due to the instability of the solid electrolyte interface, which makes it unable to meet the strict endurance and charging requirements for power batteries in extreme temperature operating environments. In order to solve these problems, finding interface engineering suitable for various application scenarios has become an important path to improve the performance of lithium-ion batteries. This paper reorganises the existing research based on three core interface functions (not just material distinction), and divides it into conductive-enhanced interface engineering, stable interface coating interface engineering and stress buffering engineering. By analysing the representative research in each functional category, a system framework that links interface engineering types with structural design principles is built, while the importance of multifunctional hybrid interfaces is emphasised. Thus, it provides a conceptual thinking direction for the future interface engineering design of lithium-ion battery silicon anode.
