Progress in shell-model effective interactions toward a unified description of nuclei around 132 Sn and 208 Pb
Abstract
To enhance the reliability and predictive power of the configuration-interaction shell model for spectroscopic properties in medium-heavy nuclei, effective interactions for different model spaces from a same mechanism are highly desirable. This work proposes to use the effective nuclear force V MU LS to construct eight effective interactions for seven model spaces around 132 Sn and 208 Pb. The strength of each component of V MU LS is optimized for over 700 energy levels and a systematic monopole reduction is proposed for the first time.
