Abstract

Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) have revolutionized the management of end-stage heart disease since their FDA approval as bridge-to-transplant therapy in 1994, followed by destination therapy approval in 2002. These devices have dramatically expanded treatment options and improved survival for patients with advanced heart failure. However, patients with biventricular heart failure who are ineligible for heart transplantation face particularly complex management challenges, with limited long-term mechanical circulatory support options [1].
