Abstract

Aralia elata var. mandshurica (Rupr. & Maxim.) J.Wen, known as Manchurian aralia (devil’s tree), is a plant belonging to the Araliaceae family. It naturally occurs in the northeastern regions of Asia, mainly in China, Korea, and Russia. It contains a variety of biologically active compounds, such as saponins, flavonoids, and polysaccharides, which contribute to its medicinal properties. This plant exhibits adaptogenic effects, supporting the body in combating stress and fatigue. In traditional medicine, it is used to enhance immunity and improve nervous system function. Due to its rich phytochemical composition, the root of A. mandshurica may serve as a valuable source of compounds used in the prevention of chronic diseases [ 1 ]. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the biological properties and chemical composition of a tincture prepared from the root of Aralia mandshurica . The study demonstrated that the tincture of A. elata var. mandshurica possesses strong antioxidant properties, effectively scavenging free radicals and reducing Fe 3+ and Cu 2+ ions. The extract inhibited lipid peroxidation and showed significant activity against key enzymes involved in inflammation, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disorders. Phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of biologically active compounds, such as saponins (aralosides and elatosides) and flavonoids, reinforcing its medicinal potential. The study demonstrated that tincture of the root exhibits strong antioxidant and enzymatic inhibitory properties, reinforcing its potential therapeutic applications and supporting its traditional use in medicine.
