Abstract

Rationale : Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of fixed triple therapy of beclometasone dipropionate/formoterol fumarate/glycopyrronium (BDP/FF/G) in improving lung function and reducing the use of rescue medication in asthma patients. The impact of BDP/FF/G on lung function in patients with asthma in a real-word setting remains to be assessed. Methods : TriMaximize is a multinational, observational study following asthma patients over a period of one to three years after being prescribed BDP/FF/G. Patients were recruited at 165 sites across Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Denmark, France, Spain, Poland and Italy. Pre-bronchodilator lung function was measured using spirometry and body plethysmography at baseline and during the treatment with BDP/FF/G accompanied by additional descriptive analyses. Results: In total, 1, 445 patients (62.8% female; mean age: 57.6 years) were included in the study. The majority (72.7%) had previously been treated with ICS/LABA (fixed or free) and 27.3% with ICS/LABA/LAMA (fixed or free). One year after initiating BDP/FF/G the overall population showed an improvement compared to baseline of 4.9 percentage points (%pt) in% of predicted FEV 1 (p
