Management of an ACTH Secreting Pituitary Adenoma Causing Persistent Cushing's Disease: Management of Residual Cavernous Sinus Invasion
Abstract
The case of a 32-year-old female with persistent hypercortisolism and Cushing’s disease due to residual tumor within the cavernous sinus demonstrates the importance of the resection of cavernous sinus disease for obtaining biochemical remission. On repeat endoscopic endonasal resection, tumor was found to be involving the medial wall of the cavernous sinus, inferior compartment of the cavernous sinus, and invading the carotid clinoidal ligaments. Resection of this residual tumor resulted in immediate biochemical remission. Publication History Article published online: 27 February 2026 © 2026. Thieme. All rights reserved.
