A Quality System Approach to Waste Containment Facilities
Abstract
This proceedings paper describes a planned system of activities that ensures a waste containment facility is built to the specifications of its design documents. It is important to embrace the entire system and not only parts of it. A quality system approach is at times redundant and can include inspections, audits, verifications, and evaluations of materials and workmanship. However, we are all better off when our procedures for protecting the environment are checked and follow a prescribed plan.
