Enhancing Seismic Resilience of Structures Using Optimally Designed Base-Isolated Impacting Vibration Absorbers with Resonator
Abstract
The aim of this study is to design and optimize two kinds of base-isolated impacting vibration absorbers with resonator (BI-IVAR) to improve the seismic performance of building structures during seismic events. By optimizing BI-IVAR’s design parameters, this research further reduces the economic cost of structural collision, and improves the stability and anti-interference ability of the system so as to effectively inhibit the structural displacement under the action of earthquake, and provide more reliable antiseismic protection for the building structure. The research methods include optimization of design parameters using H2 norm theory and the Monte Carlo search method. By analyzing system dynamic characteristics with frequency response function, the performance of BI-IVAR in seismic and vibration control is systematically studied. The analysis results showed that BI-IVAR equipped with resonators can significantly enhance building structures’ seismic performance by improving system robustness, stability, and reducing structural displacement responses under earthquake excitation. It is concluded that BI-IVAR is an efficient vibration control device with high application potential and practical value.
