Abstract

The investigation conducted by the authors explores the use of fungal mycelium (Trichoderma virens) as a bio-mediated soil improvement agent for fine-grained soils. The authors provide valuable experimental data demonstrating that fungal treatment can significantly enhance the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and tensile strength of silty soils. The demonstration that fungal mycelium can reinforce soil and modify water retention adds value to emerging biogeotechnical techniques. The discussers commend the authors for this contribution and offer the following comments for further discussion.
