Abstract

With the intensification of global climate change and human activities, the complexity and uncertainty of flood disasters have significantly risen, necessitating the development of scientific risk assessment methods to support decision-making and disaster prevention. Existing literature reviews on flood risk assessment primarily focus on flood-related issues, pay insufficient attention to assessment methods, and lack of timeliness. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is one of the most commonly used methods for flood risk assessment; however, there is a lack of systematic literature reviews on flood risk assessment that focus on AHP. To provide the latest research trends in the field of flood risk assessment and reveal the current status and challenges of AHP in this domain, this study presents a systematic literature review on AHP-based flood risk assessment methods and their applications. Specifically, this study summarizes the variants of AHP, its methodological applications, and application scenarios in flood risk assessment. Furthermore, it discusses the challenges and future research directions in this area. It is hoped that this review will provide insights for scholars and practitioners working in the field of AHP-based flood risk assessment methods and applications.
