Study of peristaltic flow with heat transfer under long wave approximation
Abstract
A study is conducted on the heat transfer problem pertaining to the motion of a viscous incompressible Newtonian fluid under the action of peristalsis in a two-dimensional uniform channel. In the wave frame of reference, the fluid is moving at a speed that of the wave. In order to investigate the effects of relevant factors on the temperature field and velocity, momentum and energy equations have been solved under the assumption that the length of wave is very large compared to mean half width of the channel. The solutions of stream function, temperature, and coefficient of heat transfer are derived using the perturbation technique in terms of the wall slope parameter. The temperature profile and heat transfer are examined by plotting the results for different parameters.
