Abstract

This paper presents a study of the dispersion of waves propagating in a waveguide partially filled with magnetoactive plasma in a wide range of magnetic fields and electron densities. The external magnetic field is oriented parallel to the plasma boundary, while the waveguide wave propagates perpendicularly to the magnetic field. The plasma parameters, at which the structural reorganization of the electromagnetic field in the plasma occurs have been calculated. The plasma parameter regimes where the propagating wave becomes either a surface wave, a dielectric waveguide wave, or a generalized Langmuir wave have been identified. The obtained results can be useful for designing plasma sources with magnetic confinement in plasma accelerators.
