Abstract

The enhancing heat transfer is crucial for boosting energy efficiency and achieving economic advantages. Implementing passive techniques, such as twisted tapes, roughened surfaces, and wire inserts, proves to be a highly effective method for improving heat transfer performance. Several studies have investigated different designs of twisted tapes to improve heat transfer efficiency. In addition, several correlations have been developed to quantitatively evaluate the heat transfer and friction factor associated with twisted tape inserts. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the research focused on enhancing heat transfer using twisted tapes. The optimum design of the twisted bands can be determined by maximizing heat transfer while minimizing the friction factor, taking into account the specific fluid application.
