Abstract

Considering that it is biocompatible, aesthetically, precise, can adjust, fit, and has durability inside the aqueous cavity, cheap price, and potential for repair, polymethyl methacrylate is the most popular denture base material. An in-situ fracture of the denture base frequently results from a fatigue process that, over time, causes the emergence of minute cracks and fractures. To provide an explanation for the denture base fracture and reinforce the repair material with nanoparticles. An electronic systematic review was performed in different databases: (Science Direct, Searches in PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar) seem to be consulted on this topic, as well as on a hand search of the scientific literature. Published work from (2000 to 2022) was collected; analyzed and pertinent articles were selected for inclusion in this review. Studies reported the fracture of denture base causes and classifications and reinforcement repair material with nanoparticles. More than sixty-seven papers were selected for this review. Aluminum oxide nanoparticles, Silica Nanoparticles, Zirconium oxide, and Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles offer positive effects on the properties of denture repair. Repair material reinforcements with nanoparticles including aluminium oxide nanoparticles, silica nanoparticles, zirconium oxide nanoparticles, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles could be important in enhancing denture repair and avoiding recurrent fractures by enhancing the mechanical characteristics of denture repair resin.
