Evaluation of growth and production of cauliflower (Brassica oleraceae) botrytis varieties applied with NPK fertilizer and border plants
Abstract
Cauliflower production in the lowlands can be increased by improving the quality of soil fertility and plant protection against attacks by plant pest organisms. The purpose of this study was to evaluate several doses of compound fertilizer (NPK), examine the application of several types of border plants, and obtain the best treatment combination for the growth and production of cauliflower. The research used a randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was the border plants, which consist of spring onion, tagetes, and rampai. The second factor was the doses of NPK, which consisted of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 kg.ha-1. Data were analyzed using ANOVA at the 5% level if there was any significant effect, followed by a DMRT test. The results showed that the use of spring onion as a border plant showed the best growth and production of cauliflower among other treatments. The NPK dose of 400 kg.ha-1 was the best dose for increasing the growth and production of cauliflower. The combination of spring onion plants and NPK dose of 400 kg.ha-1 produced the best growth and production of cauliflower plants. Border plant treatment provided the same suppressive effect on the intensity of the Plutella sp. attack 3 weeks after planting the cauliflower plant.
