Application of urea and biological fertilizer on double tone oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seedling growth in main nursery
Abstract
One of the obstacles in the fulfillment of quality oil palm seedlings is the lack of growth capacity of double tone seedlings in the main-nursery phase. Increasing the growth capacity of double tone seedlings can be done by applying urea and biological fertilizers. This study aims to obtain the best doses of urea and biological fertilizers in optimizing the growth of double tone oil palm seedlings in the main-nursery. The research was conducted at the Oil Palm Nursery Business Unit, Politeknik Negeri Lampung from April to September 2023. The research used 2 x 3 factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 replications. The first factor is the dose of urea fertilizer which is 2 g and 4 g. The second factor is the dose of biofertilizer which is 0 g, 7.5 g, and 15 g. The observational data will be analyzed using the F test. Observation data will be analyzed with the F test at the α = 5% level. If the results of the analysis of variance are significant, it will be followed by a further test of the Least Significant Different (LSD) at the α = 5% level. Observations were made on the variables of seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and leaf greenness level. The results showed that the application of 4 g urea fertilizer with 15 g biofertilizer was able to optimize the growth of double tone oil palm seedlings in the main nursery on all observation variables.
