Abstract

The problems faced by ginger farmers are poor quality rhizomes, rhizome-borne diseases, rhizome dormancy periods, and plant pests and disease during seeding and production in the field. The application of Azzofos as a biostimulant and bioprotectant aims to break ginger dormancy and produce healthy seedlings. The purpose of this study was to know the response of ginger shoot growth which applied with Azzofos and to obtain an effective concentration of Azzofos to accelerate ginger shoot growth in nurseries. The study used randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was the type of ginger which consists of Zingiber officinale var. Roscoe, Zingiber officinale var. Amarum, and Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum. The second factor was concentration of Azzofos consisting of 3 ml l−1, 6 ml l−1, and 9 ml l−1, water, and Dithane 2 g l−1. The results showed the type of ginger had a significant effect on the number of shoots at 5 DAS, diameter and height of shoots. Azzofos concentration treatment did not show a significant effect on all parameters and there was no interaction between the two treatments. Zingiber officinale var. Amarum had the highest number of shoots at 5 DAS. Zingiber officinale var. Amarum and Zingiber officinale var. Roscoe had the highest diameter and height of shoot.
