Abstract

Bagan apung is the most widely used fishing gear in Lampung waters. In operation, the bagan apung is usually assisted by lights as a tool for collecting fish. The main catches of bagan apung are anchovies, trevally fish, with by-catch fish namely mackerel, layur and squid. The results of landing fish caught by bagan apung are still not optimal and cannot support the lives of fishermen who are still below the poverty line. Bagan apung operations in the fishing ground area rely solely on generator lights or electricity as a tool to help fish collect when fishing operations are carried out. The use of fish collection aids can be supplemented with Lacuba. Lacuba is a collection tool utilizing light technology that is installed underwater. The combination of generator and Lacuba lights will collect more fish around the ship because fish caught in bagan apung that are positively phototactic will gather around the ship because there is an attraction from Lacuba and there is also fish food there. Utilization of fish aggregation tools can increase catches and fishermen’s income. The Provincial Government of Lampung also pays attention to these conditions by creating a program namely "Victorious Fishermen". This program was created in order to increase the level of welfare of fishermen, especially in Lampung Province.
