Induction of Dendrobium orchid flowering with several concentrations of BAP and foliar fertilizers
Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of BAP and leaf fertilizer in accelerating the flowering process of Dendrobium orchids. A two-factor randomized block design with three replications was employed. The first factor involved three BAP concentrations (75 mg.l−1, 150 mg.l−1, and 225 mg.l−1), while the second factor tested three leaf fertilizer concentrations (0 g.l−1, 2 g.l−1, and 4 g.l−1). The study measured the time to flower stalk emergence, percentage of flowering plants, time to blooming, flower stalk length, and the number of flower stalks. Results confirmed that BAP can effectively induce flowering in Dendrobium orchids. Specifically, a BAP concentration of 150 mg.l−1 combined with a 2 g.l−1 leaf fertilizer concentration significantly influenced both the timing of flower stalk emergence and the percentage of plants that flowered.
