Abstract

The increase in demand for shallots throughout the year has not been accompanied by an increase in shallot production. Shallot production is usually carried out using planting material derived from bulbs, however the use of bulbs as planting material often carries seed-borne diseases which have an impact on reducing shallot productivity. Using TSS as planting material is an alternative that can be used in an effort to increase shallot productivity. This research aims to 1) obtain information regarding the yield components and yield of potential shallot varieties technology TSS; (2) obtain information about potential shallot varieties technology TSS for high yielding. This research was carried out at the Horticulture research area, Lampung State Polytechnic, Bandar Lampung, with an altitude of 118 m above sea level. This research used a single factor Randomized Complete Block Design with varieties as treatment. The treatment consisted of six varieties of shallots. Four varieties of TSS namely Sanren, Lokananta, Maserati, Tuk Tuk and two varieties of bulb seeds, namely Bima Brebes and Maja Cipanas as comparison varieties. Repetition was carried out five times, so that there were 30 experimental plot units. Each experimental plot measures 1 m x 2 m. Planting is carried out using a spacing of 20 cm x 20 cm, one plant is planted in each planting hole. There were 50 plants in one experimental plot, 10 plants were chosen randomly to be used as sample plants. The results of the research show that variation has a significance on all observed characters. Potential shallot varieties technology TSS have high yields compared to comparison varieties. The Maserati and Sanren are high-yielding varieties.
