Abstract

This study aims to monitoring the soil moisture of growing media on polybags, so that the level of the soil moisture can be detected in order to minimize the possibility of the crop damage. This study was conducted using an arduino and a soil moisture sensor. The soil moisture sensor will be used to detect the moisture level of the soil/growing media. The detection results from the soil moisture sensor will be displayed to the LCD and LED as an indicator light for the level of soil moisture. Through the design of this study, the value of the soil moisture of growing media will be detected. In addition, this monitoring system can be used as a warning sign if the soil moisture of growing media in the polybag is too dry and this monitoring system expected to work optimally in detecting soil moisture levels of growing media used in this research. After testing, it can be seen that the LCD and LED installed on the tool for moisture monitoring system has been able to work well in displaying the moisture value and as an indicator to the moisture status of the soil/growing media used in this study.
